What I Ate Today #20

Good morning, all you beautiful Internet people out there. My bedhead and I are sure that you’re smarted than we are, and you didn’t book yourself into an exercise class at 8am on an absolutely freezing cold morning. Did you? Noooooooo. You’re way too clever for that.

Breakfast

Didn’t happen. A complete failure to plan for a quick meal before heading out at 7:30am for my hydro class. Yes, that means I had an hour and a half from waking to think about putting something nutritious in my belly. My brain never made it past COFFEE.

Lunch

But look! I made up for it by treating myself to lunch at the local café. Coffee. With milk. And the little heart on top and everything. Inside a café. With other people, going about their lives, and enjoying a meal and/or hot beverage. It’s been a while. And it was really nice. I ate and read for a little while, but in the end, I didn’t linger. Maybe next time.

It’s called Puddle Café, and their specialty is house-made crumpets. I had one with prosciutto, asparagus, and a poached egg (I skipped the hollandaise), and it was delicious. The coffee was great, too, and I’m so glad I decided to treat myself. It’s been a big week, and I’m really happy with what I’ve gotten done. 3 points for the crumpet, 1 point for the prosciutto, zero points for the egg and asparagus is 4 points for the meal. The coffee, a skim flat white, is another 3 points, plus 1 point for the squirt of vanilla syrup, for a total for 4 points. 8 points all up, and that’s it for the day so far.

Dinner

I didn’t have any of my pork/chicken burger patties made up and ready to go, so I tossed a few slices of smoked ham into the skillet and then onto my burger. It was delicious, and I’m going to do it again, with heaps of fried onion to go with it. Two slices of cheese, spinach, tomato, and pickled jalapenos did the job. 11 points for the burger (6 for the bun, 1 for the ham, 1 for the mayo, and 3 for the cheese), plus 5 for the chips, for a total of 16 points for the meal, and 24 points for the day so far.

I enjoyed my hydro workout class, and was really happy when my trainer asked if I’d like to come in for another assessment next week, with the aim of adding in some gym workouts. I’ll still go to the pool, too, but I’m interested to talk to him about what I can do in the gym.

I had a lot to get done again today, and I didn’t tick everything off the list, but I got close enough. I’ve walked over 10,000 steps again today, and for the second day in a row, I’ve been active (at least 250 steps) every hour between 7am and 7pm. Still didn’t get there on the fruit thing, but I have finished 2 bottles (1.5 L) of water today, so that’s progress. It’s been another good day, and I think I’m going to find myself a little treat, watch a bit of TV, and then head for bed.

A little more of that Tilly’s Chewy Gooey Choc Brownie ice cream did the trick. 2 points for that, and I finish the day with 26 points.

Song of the Day

I ate my little dish of ice cream and watched the latest episode (Season 2, Episode 2) of Ted Lasso. I lol’d up when Ted made a Jimmy Buffett joke, and so the SotD is for all you Parrotheads out there. Not the song Ted mentioned, but probably my favourite song from that album. Goodnight, all you beautiful Internet people out there. I don’t know about you, but I’m just about ready for the weekend. Take care of yourselves, and be good.
