I have to admit–I’m not really feeling it this week. It turns out that my foot wasn’t really healed enough to start walking again, and after a couple of days, I had to stop. I haven’t been for a walk since last Tuesday, and it’s messed up my whole morning routine. It’s been a sort of snowball effect–for a day or two, all that changed was that I didn’t go for my walk. Then I stopped doing my stretching routine. Then I stopped the upper body workout. And I’ve noticed that I’m not drinking as much water. And I’ve started staying up later (because I’m not getting up until 6am). But the foot is getting better, so maybe next week I’ll be able to get back on track.
The good news is, even though I’m not walking, and not feeling overly motivated, I’m still eating pretty well, and I lost weight. I lost 1.1 kg (2.4 lb) this week, so my weight at weigh-in was 165.1 kg (364 lb). That’s a total loss of 27.2 kg (60 lb) so far, with another 63.5 kg (140 lb) to go.
I think my biggest take-away from this week is that motivation helps, but when it’s not there, it’s the habits you’ve formed that can keep you from going off the rails. My wife and kids have all been sick for the last couple of weeks (a virus that I have been lucky enough to avoid/fight off so far), so everything’s been a bit chaotic. Things have most definitely not gone to plan. But I still have a meal plan, and have (mostly) stuck to it. There’s not a lot of junk food in the house, so even though I’ve been snacking a little more than usual, it’s not that bad, and it doesn’t feel like it’s a prelude to an out-of-control junk food binge. I still have reminders in my Google calendar for chores and things that have to get done, and I’m (mostly) getting them done.
